Thor Platter
In the Wine Bar
Thor's parents bought him his first guitar at 12. After a few upgraded instruments, including one that his dad stepped through late one night (Thor had a habit of leaving things in the middle of the family room floor), his father saw Thor's interest in music and bought him a Gibson Gospel acoustic. If there is one thing new players need to learn when they start out, it is to buy the best instrument you can afford. Without that purchase, Thor's not sure he would have continued to play.

Sam Brenner
In the Wine Bar
24-year-old singer/songwriter Sam Brenner has always been a self-admitted dreamer and rarely finds himself short of words. But ask him to describe how he feels about his brand new record, Where We Begin, and all he can do is smile. "It's been nothing short of an incredible experience. I've spent an exorbitant amount of time thinking about these songs, practicing these songs, revamping these songs, and finally recording these songs. These tracks are the best representations of who I am as an artist right now."

Stroke 9 with special guest Rob Duskey
CLICK HERE for advance tickets -
$10 Advance Sale, $12 Day of Show - In the Music Hall
Stroke 9 formed in the San Francisco Bay Area in 1989. The band has since recorded five albums and toured extensively in the United States, Canada and Europe. Fueled by the commercial success of the hit song Little Black Backpack, their third album, Nasty Little Thoughts, went gold in 2000. The single Kick Some Ass from their fourth album Rip It Off was featured in the movie Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back. The band has also had songs in other movies and TV shows including Ed TV, Scrubs, Malcolm in the Middle, and West Wing.
Rob Duskey, a solo-acoustic singer-songwriter by trade, was surprise to get signed as the first rock act on Boston's Slanted House dance label. In fact, just convincing him to transpose his coffee house capabilities to the main stage took something of an intervention by family and friends. A disciple of the songs-come-first mantra, Rob marked this transformation with Slanted's 2009 release of his first full-length album, Cautiously Optimistic, a straightforward cross-section of Rob's introspective.
